Quilts > Victorias Quilts Canada - OkotoksThese quilts were pieced by one of the four Friends Groups within the Okotoks satellite branch of Victoria's Quilts Canada, and then quilted by Sleepytime Quilting Studio.Victoria's Quilts Mission Statement “Victoria’s Quilts Canada's, ministry is to provide hand made quilts to cancer patients and cancer treatment facilities." By providing these quilts, we hope to bring physical comfort to those dealing with cancer as well as spiritual comfort in knowing that the Lord is with them in their struggle. This ministry, from the Lord, is accepted with a humble heart.” Victoria’s Quilts was established in honour of Victoria Ann Morrison. She was a wife, mother, grandmother and the best friend of Deborah Rogers, the founder of Victoria’s Quilts. She was also a cancer patient. One of the comments she made about her chemotherapy was that she got cold while she was laying there waiting for the day’s treatment to be over. It is hoped that Victoria’s Quilts is a warm solution to this discomfort of cancer patients. Deb remembered Victoria’s comment and wanted to do something. Since Victoria made so many quilts in her life time, Deb thought that this would be a good place to start. Victoria took the fear out of quilting. She said, “People aren’t perfect – why do quilts have to be?” It is in tribute to Victoria that we accept this ministry.
